About the client
A national aged care and health care provider with more than 18,000 staff and volunteers, operates a network of hospitals, residential aged care homes, retirement communities, home care services, and virtual care programs.
The organisation sought to strengthen its work health and safety compliance and emergency preparedness through specialist external support.
Challenge
The client required an integrated work health and safety and emergency preparedness program to:
- Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and Australian Standards 3745 and 4083.
- Improve site-level capability to respond to fires, natural hazards, and other emergencies.
- Build confidence and competence through targeted training and practical drills.
- Enhance hazard identification and workplace safety through systematic risk assessments.
What we did
ERS has delivered an ongoing national program of work health and safety and emergency preparedness services, including:
- Delivering emergency response and evacuation training to more than 8,000 staff,
- Facilitating emergency control organisation and coordinator training specific to aged care and health care environments.
- Coordinating and supervising fire and evacuation drills, incorporating risk assessments and compliance reporting.
- Work health and safety risk assessments and safety audits during site visits
- Continuous natural hazard monitoring and emergency operations centre support to monitor, assess, and respond to bushfire, flood, and extreme weather risks.
- Developing, reviewing, and implementing emergency response plans, evacuation diagrams, and fire zone plans across all sites.

The program delivered measurable improvements in work health and safety compliance and emergency readiness:
